Sony Launches Wireless Sharing Digicam

Sony has released its first wireless sharing digital camera, the 6-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-G1 which has the ability to send photos wirelessly to Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA)-enabled devices."This is a step towards realizing a platform for networked photo communication," said Phil Lubell, director of marketing for digital cameras at Sony Electronics. "We will continue to explore the possibilities for networked digital imaging as broadband Internet becomes more pervasive in American homes."

"The G1 model features a 3.5-inch LCD screen with resolution of 921,000 pixels," Lubell says "that’s four times higher than the average compact digital camera and all previous Sony Cyber-shot models. The new camera’s slide show with music function makes sharing photos directly on the camera even more enjoyable.""Sony popularized the use of large LCD screens on compact cameras, with the understanding that simply passing the camera around is a means of sharing," Lubell said. The G1 unit comes with 2GB of internal memory. If additional storage is needed, the camera's capacity can be expanded with an optional Memory Stick Duo media card or Memory Stick Pro Duo card. The G1 also incorporates an auto image management system with various search functions.Sony also claims this model has high light sensitivity, up to ISO 1000, to facilitate shooting at higher shutter speeds, as well as low-light conditions for more natural exposures or for settings where flash is not permitted. The G1 is also equipped with a Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lens. The DSC-G1 digital camera is set to release in April in the US for approximately Rs. 26,400 ($600). Additional accessories to be included are - lenses, filters, batteries, travel chargers, sports packs and cases.

Samsung Releases YP-K3 MP3 Player

Samsung has launched yet another Mp3 player—The YP-K3. The model will seem extremely familiar considering it's exactly like their previous model the YP-K5, minus the speaker. The player doesn't have video nor does it have any sort of audio recording capabilities. Another minus for the K3 is that it doesn't support AAC and OGG audio formats. The formats it does support are MP3, WMA, and ASF and PlaysForSure content.

The player also has an integrated FM tuner with autoscan and presets. Another function not present is the Alarm clock. The K3 syncs with Windows Media Player 10 and 11, as well as various MTP-based jukebox software when connected via the proprietary USB cable. It's just the 0.27-inch and is equipped with a 1.8-inch OLED screen. Slight design changes include chrome trimming and the availability of colors viz. black, red, and green.

The k3 is said to be a competitor for the iPod Nano, but doesn’t seem to make par with it. It's priced at Rs. 5175 ($119) for 2 GB and Rs. 7348 ($169) for 4 GB. Samsung has also revealed that an 8 GB model will be out in a couple of months. Asus Ships R2H UMPC to The Indian MarketBetter late than never! Asus has finally shipped its R2H UMPC which we had first heard about, way back in August last year. as reported earlier, packs in a power saving a 900MHz Celeron M ULV processor, 768MB DDR2 533MHz memory, 1.8" 4200RPM 60 GB HDD , Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 802.11a/b/g, GPS, fingerprint reader, SD card reader and three USB 2.0 ports. The OS being shipped with the R2H is Windows XP Tablet. The R2H UMPC is now available in India for a price of Rs. 77,990. This we feel is a great price point for a UMPC as comparable offerings from Sony are priced nearly Rs. 20,000 higher.

World's Most Expensive Gizmos

GoldVish – Worlds Most Expensive Cell PhoneA company based in Geneva that mainly deals with luxury communication goods had recently developed the world's most exclusive cell phone collection. The company’s name is GoldVish . Fitting I think once you ogle the phones themselves. They’re simply spectacular .

One phone in particular called – The Piece Unique nicknamed'Le Million', is designed by renowned jewelry designer Emmanuel Gueit, who has worked with jewelers like Harry Winston. This mobile phone is made of 18-carat white gold with around 1,800 diamonds totaling 120 carats. By pressing one of the precious stones on the phone’s surface you can unlock a secret compartment that can be used for carrying medicine or jewels. So it’s expensive and wee bit mysterious as well. Something I could picture Mata Hari using were she alive in this day and age.The company says - “Our aim is to create each cell phone as a masterpiece in its own right. In addition to the ILLUSION collection, GoldVish made a limited range of exclusive cell phones, the PLATO collection. A limited edition of 100 pieces will be distributed worldwide. The PLATO collection is only available on special request. GoldVish makes cell phones of unparalleled luxury backed by the highest levels of Swiss craftsmanship and precision."

There’s really not much information in terms of what features the phone actually has, but who cares. If I had one I wouldn’t care what it had either. I think I blacked out for a bit when I saw the price of this mobile phone – $1.3 million smakersoos! Holy....! That’s something like Rs. 56.38646 million Rupees..... Wait I think I'm going to pass out again!

TrekStor – Worlds Most Expensive Mp3 Player

TrekStor , a German company that designs audio and storage equipment has designed what could easily be the world’s most expensive Mp3 player. The player was designed for Alex Shnaider, owner of the Midland Formula 1 team.

This outrageously extravagant Mp3 player is cast in 18 karat gold and adorned with 63 diamonds and a chain made of aquamarine gems. The device took over 100 man hours to create by famed jewelers and designers Wenthe in Mannheim. It's fashioned from TrekStor’s i.Beat organix player.Specs-wise the i.Beat organix Gold edition comes equipped for using a standard USB 2.0 and a software CD which also includes the driver that’s required and Magix MP3 Maker SE. A line-in cable is provided for recording from external devices. It reads MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, ASF formats and come with Sennheiser earphones. This edition is also equipped with preset EQs, an integrated FM radio, digital clock, alarm and a stop watch. For some reason it even includes a Text reader.

The device can be used for mass storage and is equipped with 2GB of onboard memory. The company says it’ll run for 25 hours after 3 hours of charging. By golly, it’s just packed with features and there are so many more I haven’t even mentioned. Like - you can even record music from radio among the plethora of other functions. How much did this crazy device go for? A Whoopping US$20,000, that’s Rs. 8,67,484. So as I see it I would have got more than decent car in less than that amount. Yikes!

iPod Owners Want Built-in FM Radio

According to its users, the hugely popular iPod has something lacking in it's near-perfection... FM radio

.Jacobs Media, a US-based radio consultiing firm conducted a poll survey that shows that 43% of iPod owners said they would like to receive FM radio on their next iPods. The study was conducted in late February through early March, and consisted of more than 25,000 respondents from over 69 Rock-formatted stations from all over the U.S. Of the 25,000, 57% owned iPods."iPods are showing no signs of stopping," according to Fred Jacobs, President of Jacobs Media. "Last year, our data showed that the growth of personal mp3 players was far from over. This year, our new study confirms that this phenomenon continues to have lots of life, and we expect strong growth throughout '07."The study asked those who don't own one of these devices if they intend to do so in 2007 and nearly half (45%) of these iPod-less respondents said they are very or somewhat likely to take the plunge. 12% said that there was a strong likelihood that they would buy one sometime during 2007.The study also asked about the most important new feature that consumers desire in their next personal mp3 player from a set list of features. 33% responded saying that they wanted an FM tuner. The FM tuner feature outpaces increased capacity, a larger screen, and video playback in importance. FM radios are available in other MP3 players like Microsoft's Zune and SanDisk players but they are not built into Apple branded products, such as Nano, Shuffle, or video iPods. "It's a no-brainer," notes Jacobs. "If Apple truly wishes to make the most versatile, user-friendly personal mp3 devices, an FM tuner should be standard equipment."

Nokia puts 5070 on the table

Today Nokia announced the Nokia 5070 . The Nokia 5070 widens the Nokia portfolio in the budget segment with new...colours.
The Nokia 5070 is a device much simpler and bears a fresh design but we got to admit that it may fail to freshen up the Nokia budget line of mobiles. The primary reason for that is that the Nokia 5070 is functionally identical to the already available Nokia 6070. The 5070 would have only made a difference if it had Bluetooth support - something that it doesn't have. Anyways, it's up to the user to decide and our guess is that looks is going to be main selling point of the Nokia 5070 as its primary distinguishing point in comparison to the other Nokia budget mobiles.

Nokia 5070

The Nokia 5070 will be available in the Q2 2007 at an expected price of EUR 100.
